Automated approaches like grid trading bots attempt to capture similar range-bound inefficiencies without requiring constant manual attention, which is one reason many retail participants who are drawn to scalping's logic end up using automated tools instead of manual execution.

Risk management specific to scalping

Because scalping involves so many trades, even a well-designed strategy with a genuine edge can be derailed by a handful of oversized losses if stops aren't followed exactly. A strict, mechanical trading plan is arguably more important for scalping than any other style, precisely because the fast pace leaves little room for in-the-moment judgment calls. Keeping a detailed trading journal is essential to see whether, after fees, the strategy is actually profitable — intuition alone is unreliable at this trade frequency.
